Motorcyclist dead in Spartanburg Co. crash

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday afternoon.

According to the highway patrol, the accident occurred around 1:40 p.m. Sunday on US 221, nearly four miles north of the city of Spartanburg.

A 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on US 221 while a 2023 GMC SUV was traveling east on Davis Trading Post Road.

As the SUV turned left onto the highway, the motorcycle crashed into the car.

The driver of the SUV was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for his injuries.

The motorcyclist was also transported to the Spartanburg area, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased motorcyclist.
