Authorities are asking the public for help identifying the man found dead in Compton

COMPTON – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who was found dead on May 7.

The person is said to be over 60 years old.

The examiner’s office described him as “apparently a transient who was found in the dirt in the back of a shopping center in the 1700 block of S. Alameda St.”

“He appears to be a white or Hispanic male, approximately 60+ years of age, with short, sparse gray hair, a gray mustache and beard, and natural teeth. He is estimated to be 5-8 to 5-10 inches tall and weigh an estimated 150-170 pounds. There were no obvious tattoos or scars visible. He was wearing a purple “Izod” short-sleeved shirt, dark blue or dark gray pants, and a brown “hospital-style” sock with a white tread on the bottom.

The office has not confirmed his cause of death.
