Former teacher arrested for obstruction and harassment

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A former Springfield Local School District teacher was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Saturday.

According to the prison, 33-year-old James Pluchinsky was arrested by Polish municipal police on charges of obstructing official business and telecommunications harassment. The circumstances leading to his arrest were not immediately known at the time of publishing this report.

The school district sent an email to parents Thursday informing them of Pluchinsky’s employment status. According to the email, he has been relieved of his teaching duties for the remainder of the school year and will not return to the classroom indefinitely.

“We want to reassure our parents that this staffing change is not due to safety concerns and will not impact instruction for the remainder of the year. Our district remains focused on maintaining order in the classroom and we look forward to completing another successful school year.”
