Police have named the 42-year-old woman who was killed in an accident on the A9 in Slochd

Police have named a woman who died in a collision on the A9.

Morven Gordon, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident on the A9 at Slochd, near Aviemore, when a Kia Rio collided with an Iveco Daily van.

The accident occurred on Monday, May 6, at around 9:30 p.m. The driver and a passenger in the van were not injured.

Sergeant David Miller, from Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Morven’s family and friends at this very difficult time. Her family has asked that their privacy be respected.

“Our investigation into this crash is ongoing and we would again appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time and has information that could assist in contacting us.

“We would also ask drivers with dashcams to review their footage and please contact us if it contains any relevant information.”

“Please contact us via 101 quoting incident 3682 of 6 May 2024.”

The A9 is known for the frequency of accidents and deaths on the road.

The number of people killed in accidents on the Inverness-Perth route rose to its highest level in 20 years in 2022 as 13 people lost their lives on the 112-mile route.

Plans to double the A9 are subject to delays and are currently not expected to be completed before 2035.

Challenging sections that still require improvement include the area around the 1,315-foot (401 m) Slochd peak.
