Cyclist killed in vehicle collision in East Austin

A cyclist died after being struck by a vehicle in East Austin on Friday afternoon Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

The incident occurred around 3:59 p.m. near the 7300 block of southbound 183 Toll Road, near the intersection with U.S. Highway 290. Paramedics determined the adult bicyclist was dead at the scene.

The collision is expected to result in lengthy traffic closures in the area as investigators now work to determine the cause of the accident. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
