Investigation of Omaha supermarket, five people arrested

Four adults and a juvenile were arrested on drug charges following an investigation at an Omaha supermarket

Omaha police arrested five people on drug charges. The Omaha Police Department Narcotics Unit investigated the Goodies Convenience Store near 90th and Maple Streets. Multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant around 9 a.m. Thursday. Police said the search warrant revealed: large quantities of illegal THC products, fentanyl pills, psychedelic mushroom bars, a Glock 17 pistol and a Rock River Arms AR-15 rifle. The search warrant also led police to a residence near 90th Street and Parker Street, which led to another search warrant. That search warrant yielded 54 pounds of marijuana, several illegal THC products and approximately $140,000 in cash. Another search warrant was served in Bennington near 166th Street and Reynolds Street. There, police found the owner of Goodies Convenience Store, 37-year-old Yaser Shohatee, who was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. The search warrant in Bennington turned up ammunition, drug records and about $8,000 in cash. Police said Shohatee admitted to knowingly selling illegal items at his store. Officers arrested the following people: Shohatee for Delivery of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and CCW ConfidentialityHelal Alsohatee, 26, for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and FentanylGabriel Nuno, 20, for Possession with Intent to Distribute Distributing marijuana and fentanylAssef Shami, 32, for possession of a controlled substance. Omaha police have arrested five people on drug charges.

The Omaha Police Department Narcotics Unit investigated the Goodies Convenience Store near 90th and Maple Streets.

Multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the search warrant found a large quantity of illegal THC products, fentanyl pills, psychedelic mushroom bars, a Glock 17 handgun and a Rock River Arms AR-15 rifle.

The search warrant also led police to a residence near 90th and Parker streets, which led to another search warrant.

That warrant yielded 54 pounds of marijuana, several illegal THC products and approximately $140,000 in cash.

Another search warrant was served in Bennington near 166th Street and Reynolds Street.

  • Shohatee for delivery of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and CCW secrecy
  • Helal Alsohatee, 26, for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and fentanyl
  • Gabriel Nuno, 20, for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and fentanyl
  • Assef Shami, 32, for possession of a controlled substance
  • Juvenile male charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana
