Recent allegations that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice assaulted a photographer at a Dallas-area nightclub have given rise to an examination of his past.

Rice has been in the headlines recently for several alleged criminal acts – including this assault as well as a street racing incident that resulted in multiple car wrecks on a Dallas highway.

However, a new report from Mike Florio of NBC Sports reveals that previous alleged criminal behavior was not publicly disclosed, but NFL teams knew about it before Rice was drafted.

According to NBC sources, several teams in the pre-draft process learned of an alleged incident while Rice was at SMU. The receiver believed his girlfriend was dating SMU basketball player Kendric Davis.

Their sources said: “Rice (or someone with him) fired multiple bullets into Kendric Davis’ empty car, according to the specific information gathered by at least one team.”

The same sources “expressed the belief” that every NFL team — including the Chiefs — knew about the incident before the draft.

If that’s to be believed, it apparently didn’t stop Kansas City from selecting Rice in the second round with the 55th overall pick.

The above incident was never reported to SMU authorities and a school spokesman did not comment when contacted by NBC.

Rice is charged with eight felonies in connection with that street racing incident in March.

The Chiefs’ bankruptcy trustee is also being sued by the victims of this crash for $10 million.

He could also be punished by the NFL under its personal conduct policy.

Rice led all Chiefs wide receivers in catch yards with 79 receptions and 938 yards, trailing only Travis Kelce for the lead among all pass catchers.
