2 CT men arrested in raid against child abuse

Two men were arrested after allegedly attempting to pay for sex acts with a minor, Hartford police said Sunday.

According to police, the Special Investigations Division, in conjunction with the FBI Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force, conducted a child exploitation deterrent operation to make the arrests. The two suspects, identified as Christopher Cheong, 30, of Daly Avenue, New Britain, and Jeffrey Cunningham, 50, of Quaker Lane, West Hartford, were called to a location in Hartford on Thursday where they allegedly attempted to pay for sex acts with a child under the age of 16.

Cheong and Cunningham were each charged with attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16, attempted second-degree sexual assault and attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor. They were held on bail of $500,000.
