One person dies as migrants attempt to cross the English Channel to Britain

One person was found dead when a boat carrying migrants attempting to cross the English Channel to Britain near Calais ran into trouble overnight, French authorities said on Sunday.
Reuters quoted the French emergency authority responsible for the Calais region as saying that 34 more people were rescued and taken to the emergency room.
Combating illegal immigration is a key priority for the British and French governments.
More than 12,000 asylum seekers have arrived in the UK this year, many of them making the dangerous cross-Channel crossing from France in overcrowded dinghies that are at risk of capsizing.
Earlier this month, four migrants died while attempting to cross the English Channel from France.
