Attack: Man attacked for refusing to part with his pet | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old man was brutally attacked by his friend at Anandapuram, Mysuru Road, after a dispute over a Doberman. The incident took place on the afternoon of July 24 between 12.30 pm and 12.40 pm. Darshan, the victim, sustained a serious injury on his right leg and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chamarajpet. Police have formed a special team to arrest the suspect, identified as Deepu, a resident of Chamarajpet. According to Darshan’s mother Prameela, Deepu had been pressurising her son for several days to surrender their family’s Doberman. Darshan had refused and offered to give him a puppy if their dog had a litter. On the day of the incident, Deepu allegedly lured Darshan to a remote area on the pretext of having a conversation with him. When Darshan again refused to surrender the dog, a fight broke out. According to reports, Deepu hit Darshan, who retaliated. The situation quickly escalated when Deepu took a machete and attacked Darshan’s leg before fleeing the scene. Local residents alerted Darshan’s family, who took him to Victoria Hospital. After being sent to several hospitals, Darshan was finally admitted to a private facility in Chamarajpet, where doctors are working to save his injured leg.“The doctors said his legs would have to be amputated”“When I reached Victoria Hospital, I found that my son’s right knee was badly injured. After providing first aid, the doctors suggested taking him to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where they told us that they would have to amputate his leg permanently. When we insisted that they save his leg, they suggested taking him back to Victoria,” Prameela said. She added that fearing that they would have to run around, she got him admitted to a private hospital in Chamarajpet. “The doctors have assured that they will try to save his leg. He will be operated on soon,” the mother said. The Chamarajpet police have registered a case against Deepu under Section 109 (attempted murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023 for allegedly assaulting Darshan.
