Authorities investigate swatting incident in Leesville

LEESVILLE, Louisiana (KPLC) – The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) and Louisiana State Police are investigating a swatting incident in Leesville.

Around 10 a.m. today, Leesville Police referred a call to VPSO regarding a disturbance, officials said. The caller blocked his phone number before calling Leesville Police.

The caller said he had shot a family member and threatened himself and police, officials said. The call led officers to a home on Savage Forks Road.

When officers arrived at the home, residents said there was no disturbance and no one in the home contacted police, according to VPSO. Officers began searching the area but were unable to locate the alleged disturbance.

VPSO is working with State Police and the Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Exchange (Fusion Center) to determine the origin of the phone call.
