“Rara” Thomas, a native of Eufaula and now a UGA football player, was arrested for aggravated assault

ATHENS-CLARKE CO., Ga. (WTVY) – Rodarius Thomas, a Eufaula native and current University of Georgia wide receiver, was arrested early Friday morning on multiple domestic violence charges, ESPN reported.

Thomas, who transferred to UGA from Mississippi State, has been charged with child abuse/domestic violence. The charge is a second-degree felony. In addition to the felony charge, he is also charged with two minor counts of assault/domestic violence.

He was booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail at 3:20 a.m. EDT and is being held without bail.

According to University of Georgia Athletic Association policy, Thomas faces immediate suspension for the felony charge.

This is Thomas’ second arrest for violent crimes since his transfer to Georgia in 2023. In January 2023, Thomas was arrested for false imprisonment after allegedly locking a woman in his dorm room and telling her she could not leave.

During that arrest, Thomas was also charged with assault after allegedly “intentionally inflicting visible bodily harm” on the woman.

Thomas started eight games for the Bulldogs during the 2023-2024 season and was expected to be a fundamental part of Georgia’s passing game this season.
