Man arrested in western Georgia accused of sexually abusing three children – WSB-TV Channel 2

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. – A man accused of sexually abusing three siblings was arrested in LaGrange.

On April 12, officers from the LaGrange Police Department responded to a school because a student reported ongoing sexual abuse of himself and his siblings to a faculty member.

According to the police, the abuse had been going on for several years.

Police questioned the three siblings and other witnesses and identified Jeremy William Powell, who was known to the victims at the time of the attacks, as a suspect.

Warrants were issued for his arrest and he remained at large until police received information on Saturday, July 13, that he was hiding in a house on Ash Drive.

Police monitored the house and confirmed that Powell was inside.

Troup County Sheriff’s officers, as well as LaGrange police and detectives, surrounded the home and took Powell into safe custody.

Powell is accused of rape, two counts of child molestation, aggravated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and other charges.

Information can also be reported anonymously to Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000 and callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
