In the wake of ongoing student protests calling for school quota reform, the Bangladeshi government on Thursday suspended the Higher Secondary Certificate and comparable examinations on July 21, 23 and 25.

The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, under the Ministry of Education, announced on Thursday that the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations of all eleven education boards, scheduled for July 21, 23 and 25, have been suspended.

The new schedule for the postponed exams will be announced at a later date and the exams on July 28 will take place as planned, the statement said.

Previously, on 16 July, the committee had suspended the examinations of all eleven committees scheduled for 18 July.

Classes in all educational institutions from primary school to university have been suspended since July 17 until further notice.
