Oil and gas employer investigates incident involving worker injury

While reconnecting the heater to a 600-volt, 4-amp power source using a makeshift power cord, the worker suffered an electric shock to his left hand, the report said.

The employee was treated by the nurse on board.

The worker was wearing protective equipment at the time of the incident.

The Canada-Newfoundland Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is overseeing ExxonMobil’s investigation into the potentially fatal incident, according to the report.

Offshore reported that Newfoundland and Labrador-based employer Hibernia Management and Development Co. is also investigating an accident on its Hibernia platform that occurred in late May.
