HOUSTON — A longtime columnist for the Houston Chronicle and more recently CultureMap Houston has died.

Ken Hoffman’s son confirmed to CultureMap that he died at his Lake Conroe home on Sunday.

CultureMap said Hoffman was known for his wide-ranging writing, from writing about how to get hot fries at the drive-thru to advocating for pet adoption, and most recently, a scathing commentary on Houston’s slow response to Hurricane Beryl.

Hoffman will be remembered for his wit and, most importantly, his love for the city of Houston.

It is not known how old Hoffman was.
