Railway company TTE suspended for “misconduct” towards passengers

(MENAFN-IANS) Lucknow, July 15 (IANS) A train ticket checker (TTE) was suspended on Sunday after several videos of him abusing passengers, including a woman, went viral on social media, railway officials said.

According to a post from the Lucknow division of North Eastern Railway (NER), the operations of TTE Ranjeet have been suspended with immediate effect and the railways is investigating all aspects.

“On Board TTE has been suspended with immediate effect due to his misconduct. Appropriate action will be initiated after completion of investigation at the appropriate level,” said the official X-Account of the Divisional Railway Manager of the North Eastern Railway.

In one of the few videos that went viral, one of the 12 seconds shows him suddenly becoming angry while talking to a young passenger and later starting to insult him.

In another video from Aishbagh railway station in the city, a passenger narrated her ordeal, claiming that the accused TTE driver demanded a bribe of Rs 500 on the pretext of checking her ticket and slapped her when she refused to pay.

“Even though I had my valid ticket, he stopped me and demanded money from me. He started insulting my mother and sister and hit me two or three times,” the woman said.
