TRAFFIC POLICEMAN suffers a broken femur in an accident while on duty

TUMPAT, July 14 (Bernama) – A 28-year-old traffic policeman suffered a fracture of his left femur today after his motorbike collided with a van near Jalan Kubang Panjang.

Tumpat police chief ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie said the policeman from the Kelantan Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Surveillance Department (JSPT) was en route from Kota Bharu to Pengkalan Kubor when the incident occurred at 12.50pm.

He said the policeman was on official traffic control duty on a CBX 750 motorcycle during Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan’s working visit to the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Pengkalan Kubor.

“As he reached the scene of the accident, a Nissan Vannette C22 driving in front of the police officer turned right.

“The policeman attempted to avoid the van, driven by a man in his 50s, by swerving to the right, but instead hit the van’s door, sustaining a fracture of his left femur,” he said in a statement today, adding that the policeman had been taken to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu.

He urged anyone with information about the accident to contact traffic investigator Insp. Ibrahim Usman at Tumpat Police Headquarters on 010-9069696.
