716 Community Day returns with free activities, food and hygiene products

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – The third annual 716 CommUNITY Day returns to MLK Park on Tuesday, featuring kids’ activities, free food, free hygiene products and more.

The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, known as 716 Day, the calendar date that corresponds to Buffalo’s area code. The event is presented by Trusted Gives in collaboration with Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins’ charity “Dion’s Dreamers.”


Complimentary hot meals will be provided by local vendors such as BW’s Barbecue, Audley’s Caribbean Food, BarBill, Ilio DiPaolo’s, Fat Bob’s, The Ice Cream Men and Lloyd Taco. Fresh produce will also be available.

Hygiene products including soap, shampoo, deodorant and feminine products will be distributed free of charge.

Organizers are also offering an expanded kids’ zone, now with even more attractions like bouncy castles, buildable bikes, princesses and superheroes, as well as a chill-out zone with lounge seating and tie-dye T-shirt activities. More than 60 vendors are confirmed for the event.

“CommUNITY Day 716 is a testament to the strength and unity of our community,” said Martin Vidal, CEO of Trusted Nurse Staffing, in a press release.

Other event sponsors include Tops, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New
York, West Herr, New Era and UHC, as well as the Alzheimer’s Association, Dash’s, Wegmans, Hope Rises, Trusted Choice Homecare, the Thurman Thomas Family Foundation and 500 Seneca.
