Ray’s shortstop Wander Franco has been officially charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco has been formally charged by prosecutors in the Dominican Republic with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl. Prosecutors decided to file charges four days after an original July 5 deadline, six months after a judge ordered Franco to be investigated for sexual and psychological abuse of the minor. Attorney General’s Office spokeswoman Nairobi Viloria confirmed to The Associated Press that prosecutors had presented the final and formal charges to a judge, but declined to provide further details.
