5-year-old killed in car crash in Canadian county

A five-year-old boy died in a traffic accident in Canadian County on Sunday morning, police said.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning around 8:05 a.m. near Interstate 40 eastbound, authorities said.

There were a total of five people in the vehicle. Two of them were injured and later treated at a local hospital, police said.

One of the passengers, a 5-year-old girl, was killed and pronounced dead at a local hospital, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
