‘Prophet’ accused of rape – The Southern Eye

A self-proclaimed prophet is accused of raping a 20-year-old mentally disabled woman.

Macdonald Katurura (32) appeared before Harare Regional Judge Stanford Mambanje, who remanded him in custody until July 19.

He was advised to approach the Supreme Court to seek bail.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that Katurura went to the plaintiff’s residence sometime in June 2024 and threatened to kill her if she did not follow his instructions.

Katurura is said to have dragged the victim in a forced march to his shrine and raped her there.

Katurura allegedly said he had the consent of the victim’s mother to have unprotected sex with her.

In another case, Katurura went to the plaintiff’s home and found her alone.

He took her to his shrine where he raped her.

The matter came to light when the victim reported the sexual assault to her mother’s boyfriend, which led to his arrest.
