East Bridgewater police investigate shooting of 17-year-old in front of residential complex

EAST BRIDGEWATER – Police Chief Michael Jenkins reports that East Bridgewater police are conducting an active investigation after a 17-year-old boy was shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex last night.

On Thursday, July 4, shortly before 9 p.m., East Bridgewater Police received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot at the Pompohono Pines condominium on Robins Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the abdomen. Police and paramedics from the East Bridgewater Fire Department treated the victim, who was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim and another 17-year-old man were riding a scooter at the time of the shooting. Police do not currently believe that this was a random incident.

Police are actively investigating this incident and have several leads that are being followed up on. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call East Bridgewater Police at 508-378-7223. No additional information is available at this time.
