SIOUX CITY – A Sioux City man who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Duane Hoffmeyer sentenced Haire to life in prison, with court supervision after his release, as if he were on parole. If he violates the terms of the special sentence, he could be sent back to prison. Haire must also register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

The girl was hospitalized on February 24 after she told her parents that Haire sexually abused her on February 19 at the home of a family friend in Sioux City.

Haire was arrested on March 7. During an interview with police, Haire admitted to having sexual contact with the victim on multiple occasions in January and February and giving her marijuana, court documents say.
