1 dead after accident that leads to closure of Route 422

According to state police, a semi-trailer truck crashed head-on into the road early Friday morning.



LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — One person was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Route 422 Friday morning that closed the road in both directions for hours.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. near the Trooper/Audubon exit.

It is not clear why the tractor-trailer lost control, but it left the westbound lane, crossed the median and struck another vehicle traveling eastbound head-on, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit head-on was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

It is still unclear whether there are any other injuries.
