Duluth murder suspect arrested in Michigan – Duluth News Tribune

DULUTH – A man accused of stabbing a woman to death in downtown Duluth was taken into custody by federal authorities Wednesday.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Darrius Lamar Plummer, 34, of Canton, Michigan, on an April 19 warrant. He is charged with second-degree intentional homicide in connection with the April 12 killing of 25-year-old Chantel Moose in the 100 block of West First Street.

Plummer was listed as an inmate at the Wayne County Jail in Detroit.

Duluth police said a second man connected to the case, 26-year-old Kimonte Travion Cadge of Illinois, was also taken into custody on May 15. He is accused of shooting Plummer after the stabbing. He is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Cadge remains in the Cook County Jail in Chicago, according to online jail records. It is unclear how soon the two men will be extradited to face charges in Duluth.

A third man, Trayvon Joseph Walters, 26, of Duluth, is also charged with second-degree assault for firing two shots at Plummer and Cadge. He has not yet been arrested, police said.

According to court documents, Plummer met Moose around 2:15 a.m. outside Spurs on First. Police said he was a friend of Moose’s ex-boyfriend, and they began arguing. An eyewitness said Plummer had a knife in his hand and threatened to “stab” anyone who “ran toward him.”

The eyewitness described the knife as having a 10- to 15-centimeter blade and appearing to be a “military or hunting knife,” the complaint said.

The witness attempted to separate the two, but Moose swung his arm and missed the much larger Plummer. Plummer reached over the witness’ arm and struck downward toward Moose’s neck.

The witness said Moose did not respond at first, but backed away and walked away. About 15 seconds later, she collapsed and the witness said to Plummer, “You (expletive) stabbed her.”

When Plummer saw Moose collapse, he ran from the scene. Cadge chased Plummer and pistol-whipped him in the back, causing him to fall to the street. The eyewitness said he then saw Cadge shoot Plummer once.

Police said as the witness tried to get the crowd back into the building, he heard several more gunshots. Video footage shows Walters shooting Cadge and Plummer at least twice, the complaint says.

The stabbing was the second homicide in Duluth in three weeks. On March 22, 27-year-old Allisa Marie Vollan was fatally attacked in an apartment at 31 E. Fifth St. Her boyfriend, Dale John Howard, 25, who had been banned from contact with Vollan after a recent domestic violence arrest, was charged with second-degree premeditated murder.
