Risacher becomes number one in Atlanta – WQKT 104.5 the River

The Atlanta Hawks selected Zacharie Risacher with the first overall pick in the NBA draft on Wednesday night, the second year in a row that a French player was the first player selected. Risacher doesn’t have the enormous size or hype of Victor Wembanyama, the towering center who went to San Antonio last year and won the Rookie of the Year award. But the Hawks viewed him as the top pick in what was considered a draft devoid of elite talent. This is the first time the draft has been held in consecutive years without the No. 1 pick being someone who played at an American college.
