Texas judge dismisses sexual assault lawsuit against Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott

A district judge in Collin County, Texas, dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on Wednesday.

The woman alleged that Prescott sexually harassed her in 2017. Prescott filed a civil lawsuit in March accusing the woman and her lawyers of attempting to extort $100 million from him by making false allegations of sexual assault. The lawsuit said Prescott was seeking financial compensation of over $1 million.

On Wednesday, Judge Angela Tucker scheduled a hearing for September 13 to decide whether to impose sanctions against Prescott’s accuser.

“Despite (plaintiff’s) and her legal team’s tireless efforts to extort money and damage Dak’s reputation, justice has consistently prevailed and will continue to do so,” Prescott’s attorney, Levi McCathern, said in a statement. “(Plaintiff’s) and her team’s original lies, as well as their recent failed attempt to sue him civilly, are all just a continuation of their blackmail plan against Dak. These ploys distract from the trauma of legitimate victims of sexual assault and undermine the progress our society has made in supporting these victims. We are proud that Dak is standing up against this injustice and grateful that Judge Tucker is doing the same.”

In May, Dallas police decided they would not file criminal charges for the sexual assault allegation the woman made against Prescott. The case was dismissed after an investigation in which investigators determined there was insufficient evidence to prove a crime had been committed.

The woman’s lawyer, Yoel Zehaie, said in a statement in May: “Unfortunately, it takes a while for victims to come forward and this makes it very difficult to prosecute these cases.”

Zehaie did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.
