Latif Blessing named to MLSSoccer.com Matchday Team

HOUSTON (June 20, 2024) – Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Latif Blessing has been named MLSSoccer.com Team of the Day for the 21st day, the league announced today.

Dynamo earned a 2-2 draw against Seattle Sounders FC at Shell Energy Stadium Wednesday in a game that included two goals from Blessing.

The midfielder scored in the 30th and 39th minutes to take his goal tally to five in the last five matches. Blessing’s current career high came in 2019 when he scored six goals with LAFC. As a team, Dynamo have now scored nine goals in the last four matches.

Blessing is the 11th Dynamo player to be named in the matchday squad this season and is joined by Franco Escobar (7th and 20th days), Héctor Herrera (18th and 13th days), Andrew Tarbell (17th day), Amine Bassi (17th day), Erik Sviatchenko (15th day), Griffin Dorsey (13th day), Ethan Bartlow (9th day), Arthur (7th day), Brad Smith (6th day) and Aliyou Ibrahim (5th day). The head coach Ben Olsen was also named to the Matchday 9 squad following Houston’s 2-1 victory at Minnesota United FC.

Houston finishes the week with a road trip to DC United on Saturday, June 22 in what will be head coach Ben Olsen’s first game in the nation’s capital since leaving in 2020.
