Police lights

MARCY, NY – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver of a transport truck for people with cerebral palsy was transporting people in the north of the state when one of the people became physically aggressive toward her during the trip.

This incident occurred Thursday afternoon shortly before 3 p.m. on Morgan Road in Marcy.

Authorities said the driver, 20-year-old Korae Penny of Utica, lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and strike a National Grid transformer and a tree before coming to a stop.

Both Penny and the rear seat passenger were taken to Wynn Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

The other passengers were not injured in the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
