Investigations into the shooting in San Mateo are ongoing

SAN MATEO – A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting Thursday afternoon in San Mateo, police said.

At around 4:45 p.m., officers were called to East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street for reports of a shooting, San Mateo police said in a statement.

Neither the suspect nor the victim were found at the scene, but police determined that the suspect ran into a nearby apartment. The victim has since been found in San Carlos and taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The officers have determined the whereabouts of the suspect and negotiated his surrender, police said.

Residents in the area were asked to remain safe while police investigated the shooting.

Reports of the discovery of another shooting victim in Millbrae were not related to the shooting in San Mateo, police said.

Police said further details of the incident would be released on Friday.
