14-year-old raped, held hostage and filmed for two days in Dhanbad by her underage boyfriend and his 6 friends

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and held hostage for over two days by her underage boyfriend and six of his friends in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

Rape in Jharkhand: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand was allegedly raped and locked in a room for over two days by her underage boyfriend and six of his friends. One of the defendants also filmed the sexual assault on the teenager with his mobile phone, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the girl’s lover, who was also a minor, called her to his home on Sunday evening. There, the boy and a friend are said to have raped the 14-year-old and locked her in a room after sexually assaulting her.

In her statement to the police, the girl said that on Monday evening, five more of her boyfriend’s friends came to the house and raped her in a nearby bush.

An official said the girl screamed for help, which was heard by local residents who rushed to the scene. However, the accused boys fled the scene.

He said that a complaint of assault had been filed against seven persons at Dhansar police station, about 160 km from the state capital Ranchi, and that police were conducting raids at several places to nab the accused.

“The accused not only raped the girl, one of them also filmed the crime on a mobile phone,” said Manoj Pandey, in-charge of Dhansar police station, adding that the mobile phone was recovered from the crime scene.

“When we searched the house of the girl’s lover, we did not find anyone there. We are also trying to find out the whereabouts of the victim’s family,” Pandey said.

The official said the victim was taken to a hospital for medical examination and later sent to a home on the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
