2 people shot in northeast DC, police investigating

Both injured people were taken to hospital in stable condition.

WASHINGTON – DC Police investigate after two people were shot early Monday morning. Police say both people were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

According to a Metropolitan Police Department watch commander, officers were called to the 600 block of 24th Street Northeast around 1:45 a.m. That’s near RFK Stadium. When they arrived on scene, officers found a man and a woman shot. The watch commander told WUSA9 that both the man and woman were conscious and breathing when they were taken to the hospital.

Investigators were on the scene early Monday to collect evidence and search for surveillance video of the shooting. No arrests have been made yet. Police have not yet released a description of the person they are seeking.

This is the latest shooting in a violent weekend in the District. On Sunday, four people were shot along Minnesota Avenue in southeast DC. Later that night, around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a fatal shooting on Underwood Street NorthwestIn this case, the homicide squad is looking for a dark Infinti with two passengers.
