Hopkins police search for missing 4-year-old boy

HOPKINS, Minn. — Hopkins police issued an emergency alert Sunday for a missing four-year-old boy with autism.

The report said the boy, identified as Waeys Ali Mohamed, was unable to speak and was last seen around 7:30 a.m. near 1295 2nd St. NE. Police are asking the public to avoid the area, but owners of surrounding properties are asked to be on the lookout for any signs of the boy.

“There is a lot of activity here with search teams, search dogs and search boats,” Hopkins police said.

Police described the boy, who is black, as 4 feet 6 inches tall and 40 pounds with short, black, curly hair. When last seen, he was wearing black or blue pajama pants, no shirt and no shoes.

The boy is easily frightened by noise, police said, and is attracted to water.

Anyone who sees the boy is asked to call 911.
