MLK Park public restroom fire causes thousands of dollars in damage

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A fire in a public restroom at MLK Park caused thousands of dollars in damage Saturday night.

No injuries were reported, according to the Buffalo Fire Department, who said the fire was quickly extinguished. It caused an estimated $180,000 in damage a week before the end of the Eighteenth Festival parade near the site.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Early Saturday morning, firefighters went to a vacant home on the city’s East Side. Firefighters told 2 On Your Side the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the home on Olympic Avenue.
