Man who allegedly fled from police arrested and charged with drug trafficking in Fulton County

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – A man who initially fled from officers was arrested Wednesday after police found drugs and weapons in the apartment where he was staying, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.

Nicholas Dixon, 30, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on several charges, including three counts of drug trafficking, two counts of drug possession, two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, one count of eluding police and one count of reckless driving, according to jail records.

On May 29, the Sheriff’s Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Support Team (FAST) attempted to stop Dixon on Chappell Road NW. He allegedly sped away, throwing a bag containing more than a pound of suspected marijuana out the window.

Not long afterward, officers found the car Dixon was in at an apartment complex on Mayson Turner Road NW. Investigators searched the apartment Dixon had entered and reportedly found several drugs and weapons, including:

  • 25 pounds of suspected marijuana
  • 158 grams of suspected crack cocaine
  • 91 grams of suspected MDMA
  • 30 grams of illegal mushrooms
  • 100 Oxycodone tablets
  • Materials for packaging and distribution of medicines
  • A Glock 19 pistol and an American Tactical .223 rifle

A week later, Dixon was found in a Chamblee apartment that had been searched by officers and taken into custody.

“I am extremely proud of our team. FAST serves as a force multiplier throughout Fulton County,” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat said in a statement. “By patrolling high-crime areas, this team takes dangerous drugs and illegal weapons off the streets. The safety of the community is of the utmost importance.”
