Two Fresno residents arrested after chase on Wednesday

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – Two Fresno residents were arrested Wednesday following a chase in Grover Beach.

On June 5 at around 1:46 p.m., officers were called to the 1500 block of W. Branch Street in Arroyo Grande for a reported auto break-in and attempted auto theft, Arroyo Grande police said in a news release about the arrests.

When arriving officers could not find the vehicle suspected of being connected to the thefts, an announcement was sent saying “Attention!”, Arroyo Grande police said.

At approximately 5:22 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle in Grover Beach. After attempting a traffic stop, a chase began, but was eventually broken off by police when the suspect vehicle reached Highway 101, which was known to the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

According to Arroyo Grande police, the suspect vehicle was discovered unoccupied at around 5:55 p.m. and police confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Fresno.

Detectives with the Arroyo Grande Police Department tracked down and arrested a 41-year-old Fresno man who matched the description of one of the two people involved.

The 41-year-old was arrested at the San Luis Obispo jail on the following charges:

  • PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy
  • CVC 664/10851 – Attempted vehicle theft
  • PC 496(a)-Possession of Stolen Property
  • PC 530(a) Identity Theft

Shortly after this arrest, a 32-year-old woman from Fresno who matched the description of the other person involved was taken into custody nearby.

The woman was arrested on two outstanding warrants and also charged with the following:

  • PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy
  • CVC664/10851-Attempted vehicle theft
  • PC496(a)-Possession of Stolen Property
  • PC 148.9(a)(1) – Presenting false identification to a police officer
  • HS 11364(a)-Possession of drug paraphernalia
