Irish firefighter pleads not guilty in Boston woman rape case

An Irish firefighter has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman in Boston over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, paving the way for his arraignment.

Terence Crosbie, 37, from Dublin, appeared before Suffolk High Court on Wednesday.

The alleged victim told police that Mr Crosbie sexually assaulted her in a hotel after she had consensual sex with his colleague with whom he shared the hotel room.

On Wednesday, new details of the case emerged and Assistant District Attorney Erin Murphy described her client’s memories of the night to the court.

“Because the victim was asleep when he returned, she was unaware of his presence until she woke up and saw him raping her,” she said. “She told him to stop and asked what he was doing and the defendant continued … making comments that suggested he knew she wanted this.”

Crosbie’s legal team pushed for his bail to be set at $5,000 on Wednesday, but this was denied and the original amount remained at $100,000.
