Man arrested for road rage with knife and running into the street | News

LEWESDel. – Delaware State Police arrested Tyler Draine, 27, of Rehoboth Beach, on charges of aggravated menacing and related offenses following a road rage incident Saturday afternoon.

On June 1, at approximately 5:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of a road rage incident involving a knife near Coastal Highway and Wescoats Road. According to DSP, a white male suspect on a moped stopped in front of a car at a red light on Coastal Highway. The suspect then approached the car and threatened the two occupants with a knife. While the victims called 911, the suspect fled on the moped south on Coastal Highway.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tyler Draine. During the stop, Draine ignored verbal commands and attempted to flee down Coastal Highway, running in front of several cars.


Shortly thereafter, an officer spotted a white male matching the suspect’s description driving southbound near Airport Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tyler Draine. During the stop, Draine disregarded verbal commands and attempted to flee across Coastal Highway, running in front of several cars. After a brief foot chase, Draine was arrested and a search revealed he was carrying a pocket knife.

Draine was taken to Squad 7 and charged with the following offenses:

  • Serious threat (felony) – 2 counts
  • Terrorist threat – 2 counts
  • Disorderly conduct – 2 counts
  • Carry a hidden dangerous instrument
  • Resisting arrest
  • Expired tags
  • Crossing at places other than a zebra crossing

He was arraigned before a Justice of the Peace of Judicial Court 3 and released on unsecured bail of $6,202.
