Houston restaurant manager attacked by customer

The 58-year-old manager told KHOU 11 News he was hit in the head with a gun by an angry customer.

HOUSTON — Houston police are working to find the woman behind a violent assault at a popular Houston restaurant.

It happened on May 26 shortly after 10 p.m. at the Spanish Flowers Mexican restaurant in the Heights.

KHOU 11 News spoke with the 58-year-old manager who was pistol-whipped. He had only been on the job for four months and, concerned for his safety, he chose not to go on camera.

The manager said the suspect and two other women began complaining about the wait time and service at the restaurant. The manager said he told them the restaurant was very busy.

The women then complained about the quality of the food. That’s when the manager told them they didn’t need to pay and asked them to leave.

The manager told KHOU 11 News they tried to exit through the emergency door, but as he stopped them and directed them forward, the women began throwing chairs. He said one of the women then slapped him. He admits he slapped her on the back and that’s when another woman – captured on a surveillance photo – pulled out a gun and hit him in the head with it to escape.

The manager suffered some bruises but was not hospitalized. He is now afraid that they will return.

The manager also said the woman fired shots in the parking lot.

Houston Police Department investigators are asking anyone who knows the woman with the gun to call HPD or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
