Man arrested after breaking into Coos Bay home | Local news

While CBPD officers were searching the area, citizens flagged down an officer from the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indian Tribal Police. The citizens told the officer that the suspect was walking on N. Schoneman St. with a gun concealed in his pants and then again walking through a yard with a gun in his hand. A citizen recognized the suspect as Benjamin Anderson, 45, of Coos Bay.

Officers continued their search for Mr. Anderson and eventually located him with a gun in his hand at the corner of N. Cammann St. and Harris Ave. after receiving a 911 call about his whereabouts. Mr. Anderson fled from officers through neighborhood yards and fences, abandoning the observed gun. After a brief chase and struggle, Mr. Anderson was arrested. Due to Mr. Anderson’s continued resistance, he was placed in the WRAP system for his and the officer’s safety. Officers located and confiscated both stolen guns.

Mr. Anderson was arrested and taken to the Coos County Jail on the charges listed below:

• Possession of weapons by certain serious criminals

• Possession of weapons by certain serious criminals
