Murder and suicide in Elgin: 3 dead after shooting in Elgin, Illinois, in the 100 block of South State Street, police say

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) – According to police, three people were killed in a shooting followed by a double murder and suicide in the western suburbs.

Elgin police said officers responded to the 100 block of South State Street around 2 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported he had not seen his neighbors for an extended period of time.

Officers forced their way into the home and found three people who appeared to have been dead for some time. They also found a gun next to one of the people, who appeared to have self-inflicted a gunshot wound.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office conducted autopsies Friday and confirmed that all three people died of gunshot wounds, one of which was self-inflicted. The medical examiner has not released their identities.
