East Texas man arrested after suspected bank robbery

LUFKIN, Texas – An East Texas man was arrested after allegedly robbing a bank in Lufkin.

Robert Harris, 47, of Center, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing the Cadence Bank in Lufkin.

According to police, Harris handed a bank employee a note demanding money. After receiving the money, Harris fled to a vehicle across the street.

Officers spotted Harris near Casey Road in Lufkin and began a pursuit. After a chase at speeds up to 70 miles per hour, Harris was arrested and the money was seized.
