Two people arrested for sharing videos of alleged sexual abuse of women by Prajwal Revanna

Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team probing allegations of sexual abuse involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly circulating pen drives containing explicit videos of the alleged abuse of several women by the JD(S) leader.

According to police sources, the two persons were arrested when they came to the Supreme Court. The SIT investigators arrested them and took them for questioning.

They are said to have distributed USB sticks with videos showing women being sexually abused. The person allegedly involved was Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

The videos went viral on social media and the state government formed the SIT on April 28 to investigate the case after the Karnataka State Commission for Women wrote a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding an investigation into the allegations.

Prajwal, 33, the NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, reportedly left the country on April 27, a day after the elections, and failed to appear before the SIT court.

Interpol has issued a corresponding report to the Blue Corner and a court has issued an arrest warrant for the “fugitive” MP.

On Monday, a video emerged in which Prajwal said he would appear before the SIT on May 31.

Reacting, BJP state president BY Vijayendra said he welcomed Prajwal’s decision to return to India and cooperate with the investigation.

“I just want to say without discussing much about right or wrong… you are a representative of the public, you have to face the matter (of the investigation) courageously. Several doubts have cropped up in the last one and a half years. Prajwal has to put an end to this and join the investigation. He has also agreed to appear before the Special Investigation Team. I welcome this,” Vijayendra said.
