The investigation into Ryan Lantz’s death is ongoing

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) – The Harrison County District Attorney’s Office has released the results of its May grand jury, which indicted 49 people but did not consider charges in the death of Liberty High School teacher Ryan Lantz.

Lantz, a teacher and coach, died after being struck by a car in the Liberty High School parking lot on Feb. 20. He was 52 years old.

The collision was initially investigated by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. The Harrison County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to 12 News on Tuesday that while no charges have been filed, the investigation is ongoing.

Lantz’s death sent shockwaves through the Clarksburg community. A GoFundMe campaign to fund his memorial and support the family raised more than $20,000. Several gatherings were held in his honor, including a candlelight vigil at the Liberty High School football field and a formal memorial service that was livestreamed.
