Lynchburg police search for man in shooting at e-cigarette store

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Lynchburg police are searching for a man suspected of being involved in a shooting at a vaping shop.

Police responded to a reported shooting at the LB Tobacco and Vape Shop on Forest Brook Road in Lynchburg on Saturday, May 25, at 2:58 p.m.

According to Lynchburg police, an 18-year-old man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the initial investigation, police determined that the suspect and the victim knew each other and that there had apparently been a verbal argument that led to the shooting.

Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Savon Lavay Ellis, who is wanted on several charges, including:

  • Malicious injury
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a crime
  • Reckless handling of a firearm
  • Firing a firearm in the city
  • Shooting in a public place with injuries
  • Possession of a concealed weapon

According to the police, this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public.
