Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Haines City – WFTV

HAINES CITY, Fla. – An officer-involved shooting investigation is ongoing in Haines City Friday night, police said.

11pm update:

According to police, the shooting occurred early Friday evening along U.S. Highway 27 near Davenport.

Haines City Police Chief Greg Goreck said the incident started with a stolen vehicle.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 7 p.m. when the suspect fled from officers.

Police said the chase reached speeds of 100 miles per hour and the suspect struck at least two vehicles.

Finally, a Haines City police officer shot the suspect after he pulled out a gun.

A second suspect was taken into custody, police added.

Haines City Police are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on US Highway 27 near Interstate 4.

Police said the crime scene remains active and we are working to gather all details surrounding the incident.

Chief Greg Goreck wants to reassure the community that all officers involved are safe and the suspects have been taken into custody.

According to a press release, police will release more information later this evening.
