Scottie Scheffler was arrested by Louisville police at the PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, was handcuffed and arrested by Louisville police Friday morning for a traffic collision as he attempted to enter Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the PGA Championship.

After a tumultuous morning in which Scheffler was booked into jail, issued an orange jumpsuit and charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, he was released on his own recognizance and returned to the golf course in time to resume play. He hit balls on the practice range for about 20 minutes before heading to the 10th tee, where he pulled a driver from his bag to continue his hunt for a second straight major championship. Scheffler finished the second round at 5 under for the day and 9 under for the tournament, near the top of the leaderboard.
