Three people are killed and three are hospitalized in a fiery crash after Tesla crashes into a building in Pasadena

Three people were killed and three hospitalized after a Tesla crashed violently into a building in Pasadena early Saturday morning.

The accident occurred just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Vista Avenue when a car traveling at high speed lost control on a curve, according to Lt. Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department.

Because of the high speed, the car jumped the curb, collided with a utility pole and crashed through a wall at the intersection, Russo said.

Of the six people in the Tesla, three were ejected upon impact.

Paramedics transported three of the victims to area hospitals, where they were reported to be in stable condition.

Russo said three other people were pronounced dead at the scene. All of the victims were between 17 and 22 years old, Russo said.

More than 500 homes also lost power in the crash, but crews were able to restore power to most of the area within 45 minutes. SkyCal flew over the scene late Saturday afternoon, where crews could still be seen working on the damaged utility pole.

The intersection and the section of Foothill Boulevard that runs between Craig Avenue and Sierra Madre Boulevard were closed until just after 2:45 p.m

The building the car crashed into had extensive damage, visible with SkyCal overhead.
