Police say two people were injured after a drunk driver crashed into a broken down vehicle on Bourne Bridge

A Massachusetts man faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after the vehicle he was driving collided with a stalled vehicle on the Bourne Bridge, according to state police. James Lewis, 21, of Raynham, also was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation in connection with the accident, which occurred early Saturday morning. Authorities said that around 2:20 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police trooper from Bourne Barracks stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on the south side of the bridge. A second vehicle driven by Lewis crossed the double yellow line on the Bourne Bridge and struck the stalled vehicle, which was pushed into the trooper’s patrol car as a result of the collision, according to state police. State police said Lewis and the driver of the broken down vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Lewis was arrested and transported to Bourne after receiving medical treatment at the state’s police barracks, authorities said.
